Questions

How It Works

  • Can I just clean the mold myself with bleach?

Bleach can remove surface growth on non-porous materials, but it does not reach mold inside drywall or wood framing. If the moisture source is not fixed, the mold returns. Larger areas, recurring growth, or mold behind walls need containment and material removal that a store-bought product cannot provide.

  • How do I know if mold is behind the walls?

A persistent musty odor, soft or discolored drywall, peeling paint, or mold that keeps returning after cleaning are all signs that growth may be inside the wall cavity. A moisture meter inspection can confirm whether hidden materials are affected before any work is scoped.

  • What happens if I wait to address the mold?

Mold spreads through wall cavities into adjacent framing and insulation. In New Orleans’ humid conditions, an isolated patch can reach neighboring rooms within weeks. Delayed action typically means more material has to be removed and structural drying takes longer, expanding the scope of work.

  • Is mold a particular problem in New Orleans homes?

Yes. Warm, humid conditions year-round and frequent storm and flood water intrusion make mold growth common here. Older homes with wood framing, aging drywall, and crawl-space foundations are especially at risk because moisture stays trapped in those materials long after visible water is gone.
